The Project
The Cowboys Stadium was built in 2009, and is the largest domed stadium in the world. One of the most compelling architectural features of the design is the canted glass exterior wall, which extends 86 feet high and slopes outward at a 14° angle. In order to preserve the architectural integrity of the stadium, the exterior lighting had to be taken into great consideration. The desired effect of the façade of the building was to create a luminescent glow that could be seen from a great distance.
The lighting designer chose Philips Wide-Lite’s Effex floodlight for the exterior of the stadium because of its ability to create the luminescent glowing effect that they desired. Versatile mounting options allowed the floodlights to be mounted on custom towers that housed 10 EFX (/EFI) luminaires aimed in different directions to impressively wash the entire front of the stadium with light.
